Daily Lessons! Day 6...Size Matters Little

Today’s Lesson: Size matters little...

Size can be intimidating. Big bullies tend to pick on the little guys or the slow guys. So I was walking Muxu, my dog, this morning, as I do every morning. Muxu is about 25 lbs, a mutt, a terrier mix, a rescue. We were lucking to get him as he was due to be "terminated." Nobody wanted him. He overstayed his 30 day visa in the humane society kennels. We took him home and he's been with me for 13 years.

So I am walking him down the street and there is a little chihuahua who lives nearby. Don't know the chihuahua's name, but he can make a racket. His owner was walking him back from farther down the street. We we're 100 yards away and Muxu was lollygagging under a honeysuckle bush, one of his favorite places to hang out. Once Muxu emerged, the chihuahua started barking with his whole body. He does this to every dog in the neighborhood. He wants everyone to know who owns the street. So it's not the size of the dog in the fight, but size of the fight in the dog. Being a student of history, I could see Napoleon in the chihuahua. The little guy with something to prove.

How tall do you have to be to dunk a basketball? I just googled the question and here's what I found! Shocking. You expect someone who is Shaq size to be able to dunk, what about someone 5'8" or 5'7"? Are you kidding me?
My youngest daughter who turns 21 in a few days, ran track and played soccer in high school. About a 100lbs soaking wet. A lot of soccer games are played in the rain and they do get muddy. Now she's 3rd year at Towson U. and she plays rugby! Rugby! Well, she's a wing out and it's all about speed not size.

Further thoughts on size: Concentrated wealth. Think about how valuable diamonds are. Small enough to sew into the lining of a jacket when you are fleeing oppression. How about small nutrient dense pills or tablets that deliver health to every cell in the body? What about splitting of an atom, the small piece of physical matter that unleashes a chain reaction of energy that can either destroy a city or create electricity to power a city?

Here's a few words to think about if you feel small or dis empowered by large problems.

Momentum
Intensity
Chain reaction
Concentration
Focus
capability
capacity
energy

function
influence
potential
skill
talent
aptitude
bent
competency
dynamism
effectiveness
efficacy

virtue l
leverage

Adopt a word and make it a mantra.

Hope this helps.
