Today’s Lesson: Inspiration

What inspires you?

Here's the various meanings and the way inspiration can work...

a divine influence or action on a person believed to qualify him or her to receive and communicate sacred revelation
the action or power of moving the intellect or emotions
the act of influencing or suggesting opinions
2the act of drawing in; specifically the drawing of air into the lungs
3a the quality or state of being inspired
something that is inspired

  • a scheme that was pure inspiration

4an inspiring agent or influence

This morning on the news, there is a story about a young man who got a new job. His car broke down and no one was available to help him get to work. He left his house at midnight and started walking so he could be at work by 8 am. The owner of the company was so touched by his new employees dedication that he gave him his own car to use to get to and from work. That's an inspiring story. But there is more to the story. The young man was black and the police stopped him on the highway after he had been walking 7 hours. They checked his ID and listened to his story. They didn't just give a ride the last few miles, but the took him to a restaurant and bought him breakfast. In an age when good deeds go unnoticed, and the bad stuff is the only thing that makes headlines, it's good to hear an inspiring story of people helping others and hard work and dedication being rewarded.

Related: Here is an expression "that story lifted my spirits"

Our life, our consciousness is not made of just physical material, a body, a heart, a brain. We have emotions, thoughts and feelings that are not quantifiable. Pay attention to what inspires you and what makes you happy. Seek more of that.

Do you have an inspiring story you want to share?

  • Raise your words, not your voice. It is rain that grows flowers, not thunder. Rumi.

Hope this helps.
