Today’s Lesson: Politics - Pshaw!

Politics is a dirty game.
Politics is a game of half-truths at best and mostly downright lies

I don't know if enlightenment will ever reach the sphere of politics, but not to worry there is always hope!

This morning two ladies from the same family are both running for political office in different counties. Not only were they from the same family, they were siblings. Not only were they siblings, they were twins.

However, one was a democrat and one was a republican. When asked how they get a long, one of the twins said, "The left wing and the right wing belong to the same bird."

What needs to be understood here is that differing viewpoints are not only acceptable but necessary to fuel the body. You can't just eat a mono diet and expect to be healthy. We need variety. In nutrition you need protein, fats and carbs. In life we have optimists and pessimists. You have believers and skeptics. In other words, there should be a balanced view.

One sided opinions are lop-sided. The right leg cannot say to the left leg, "hey you are no longer needed here, get lost."

If you find yourself getting into a "political" argument, take two steps back and see if there is a wider angle with which to gaze upon a problem or issue. Chances are your perspective may change.

Quick Takeaways:
1. No one has all the answers
2. No one owns the corner on righteousness
3. The only difference in political bickering in the 18th century and today is that there are more megaphones. The speed of news delivery is instantaneous today. In yesteryear, the pony express took a week to cross the country.

  • Love is the energizing elixir of the Universe, the cause and effect of all Harmony. Rumi.

Hope this helps.
